Our museum collection includes many unique artifacts, documents, newspapers and thousands of photographs relating to Stoneham’s past. We appreciate the many generous donations from local institutions and private citizens that have made it so remarkable. Among our favorite artifacts is a drum that was carried into battle during the Revolution and a Great Coat worn by a Stoneham resident during the Civil War. Sports fans will enjoy seeing mementos from Stoneham’s great Olympic athletes, including a pair of ice skates worn and signed by Nancy Kerrigan.
We encourage those who are interested to visit during our monthly meeting to see the museum and enjoy our guest speaker. See our calendar for the next meeting date. The Society also holds 1 or 2 open houses each year. In April, we open the doors from 1 – 4 PM for our annual Research Day. Always available at this time is our collection of Town Directories dating back to the mid and late 1800’s for those who are interested in researching the history of their homes. Another open house is usually held the last Saturday in October. At this Open House, we select one of our collections to showcase for the public in addition to our regular museum exhibits.
